The more than 60 teams and more than 1,000 footballers from four Bilbao clubs (Danok Bat Club de Fika, Santutxu, FC SD Begoña and CDSolokoetxe) that use the Mallona soccer field, in Bilbao (Bizkaia), are already enjoying the new artificial turf supplied and installed by Sports & Landscape, and which has obtained the European certification UNE 15330-1.
The artificial turf of this Bilbao City Council facility had been assembled in 2006. Due to the intensive use it receives, it was time to replace it. For the new product, because of the characteristics and conditions of use of this surface, a combination of fibers has been chosen – a mixture of monofilament fibers and fibrillated fibers – on a base sheet and fixed by latex induction, all of it weighted and filled with a mixture of sand and rubber granules. The expert advice of Sports & Landscape, which plans each project individually, has been key in this work.
The Mallona complex includes two 96 x 63 meter soccer fields, each containing three playing areas: one of them in the longitudinal direction of soccer 11, and the other two, in the transversal direction, of soccer 7.
The action has been completed with the replacement of the sports equipment (goals and flags), the improvement of the evacuation and collection of water and the cleaning of the sanitation network.
