Sports & Landscape has completed the execution of the soccer field of the Municipal Stadium of Argixao in Zumarraga, in the Basque Country, which is characterized by having artificial turf with an elastic base without rubber filling. This latest innovation makes this field one of the most sustainable in all of Spain.
The manager and commercial director of Sports & Landscape, Ignasi Senabre, explains the importance of this change: “Normally the artificial turf of the football fields is filled with SBR rubber, which is recycled from tires, and which protects the fibers and provides comfort, elasticity and energy dissipation. Both FIFA and the International Olympic Committee recommend this material and have certified that it is not a problem”.
“However -Senabre continues-, at Sports & Landscape we want to take another step in protecting the environment and that is why we have opted for the elimination of SBR rubber in our soccer fields, with the same guarantees of safety, performance and quality of the surface for sports practice”.
The work consisted of removing the old turf and supplying and installing high-quality artificial turf, for a total area of 100 x 60 meters. In addition, the canyons of the irrigation system have been renovated.
