The Cantabrian capital, in the north of Spain, has inaugurated the Cruyff Court Iván de la Peña, the new space for public use to promote sport as a vehicle for social transformation, promoted by the Cruyff Foundation and La Caixa Foundation, with Sports & Landscape as the exclusive partner for the field mounting.

Sponsored by the former Barça and Espanyol player (among other teams such as the Spanish team and Lazio), the event also featured the participation of Carles Puyol, patron of the Cruyff Foundation.

Along with them, there were Susila Cruyff, president of the Cruyff Foundation; Pati Roura, director of the Cruyff Foundation; Gema Igual, mayor of Santander, and Alejandro Fernández, commercial manager of La Caixa Foundation. On behalf of Sports & Landscape, the manager, Ignasi Senabre, and the deputy director, Marta Marín, were present.

This is the eleventh of the 13 Cruyff Courts that the Cruyff Foundation and La Caixa Foundation have launched in different Spanish provinces. The first was inaugurated in 2016 in Palencia sponsored by Eusebio Sacristán.

It is a social project that promotes the transformation of city neighbourhoods, boosting sports and healthy lifestyles to combat childhood obesity. In addition, with these small free-use soccer fields, the aim is to instill values such as responsibility, respect and team play.
