Sports & Landscape installs the Cruyff Court Montornès Nord

A new Cruyff Court is now a reality in Catalonia, in this case in Montornès del Vallès, thanks to the Cruyff Foundation, the FC Barcelona Foundation, ”la Caixa” Foundation and Sports & Landscape, the official provider and installer of these small football pitches for social use.

The opening ceremony was attended by Johan Cruyff’s son, Jordi Cruyff, and the FC Barcelona Women’s player Laia Codina, who signed autographs for the boys and girls.

Also in attendance were the president of the Cruyff Foundation, Susila Cruyff; the director of the Cruyff Foundation, Pati Roura; the general director of the FC Barcelona Foundation, Marta Segú; the corporate director of Education and Marketing of ”la Caixa” Foundation, Xavier Bertolín; the mayor of Montornés del Vallés, José A. Montero, and the technical director of Sports & Landscape, Carles Pascual.

The Cruyff Court Montornès Nord is the 15th that the Cruyff Foundation has opened in Catalonia, in alliance with ”la Caixa” Foundation and the FC Barcelona Foundation. Its objective is to promote sport as a means of inclusion, cohesion and social transformation. In this case, the project also has the support of the Montornès del Vallès City Council.

The Cruyff Courts are small free-use soccer fields whose purpose is to promote sport and instill values such as responsibility, integration, team play and self-improvement, as well as preventing sedentary lifestyle and childhood obesity.

The Cruyff Court is one of the outstanding projects of the new Montornès Nord social sports park promoted by the City Council. The space is the result of a citizen participation process carried out in 2019 to renovate and revitalize the 17,200 m2 of disused land of the old Montornès Nord football field, and includes a park with a landscape project by Top Consulting Esportiu, sister consultancy of Sports & Landscape.

In addition to the Cruyff Court, the first phase of the macro project, already completed, has a basketball court, two mini-basketball courts, one volleyball court and another multipurpose court. In a second phase, the rest of the planned facilities will be carried out, which include the conditioning of a skate park, picnic areas and a children’s playground, among others.
